Rapid Super Ring (RSR)

Korenix delivers the fastest Ethernet redundant solution in the world in the new generation of industrial managed switch JetNet series, including the JetNet 5010G Gigabit managed switch and the JetNet 4706/4706f PoE plus managed switch. When operating in the Rapid Super Ring (RSR) redundant Ethernet protocol, the recovery time of a Gigabit fiber ring or a fast Ethernet copper ring connected in JetNet 5010G can reach to less than 5 milliseconds, providing the fastest Ethernet recovery time in the world. It is critical for industrial applications that network remains non-stop. The advanced Dual-Homing technology also facilitates the JetNet 5010G to connect with the core managed switch via standard Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol. To higher link availability and increase link capacity, the JetNet 5010G has been implemented IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). With LACP technology, the JetNet 5010G can negotiate an automatic port bundling dynamically between switches. Two or more Fast Ethernet, or Gigabit Ethernet connections are combined in order to increase the bandwidth and to create resilient and redundant links.

Providing the extra Ethernet redundancy in combination with Link Aggregation

To increase the link redundant and bandwidths, Rapid Super Ring (RSR) has integrated with link aggregation. Through this new RSR feature, RSR can support multiple links per ring segment, e.g. one link per ring segment, 2 links per ring segment, 3 links per ring segment or even more links per ring segment, as well as the various links in a redundant ring. Therefore, the JetNet 5010G can support up to 3Gbps bandwidth redundant ring while trunking 3 Gigabit ports (both fiber and copper) and supporting up to 8 link fails happened in a redundant ring while trunking 8 ports together. To enhance the network convergence, RSR also supports Multiple Rings configuration while connecting separate redundant rings together. Through this new RSR feature, the JetNet 5010G can support up to 5 multiple rings on a single JetNet 5010G.

Korenix (www.korenix.com), a pioneer in networking solutions for industrial applications, launches series of managed and unmanaged industrial-grade Power over Ethernet Plus switches at Computex Taipei show, on June of 2007.The introduction of JetNet 4706 / 3706 switch series symbolizes a new era for PoE technology and sets a new standard for PoE switches. Korenix is proudly announcing its revolutionary 30 Watts/port PoE switches to public, IEEE802.3at PoE Plus design, the successor of 802.3af.

The new PoE Plus switches support Auto-detection of 24V & 48V power inputs & 24V & 48V PoE outputs, which is very useful for Transit System with DC24V power system, or any application required DC48V power source.

For the managed JetNet 4706 series, each of the four PoE ports can be configured on weekly schedule by hourly basis. PoE on/off can also be controlled remotely via SNMP & web. The two uplink ports (100M TX or 100M FX) can be configured as Rapid Super Ring ports, recovering network failure in less than 5ms, or RSTP ports, integrating with other standard switches. JetNet 4706 also supports comprehensive and user-friendly management interfaces, such as SNMP v1/v2/v3, RMON, Web interface, Telnet, Cisco-like CLI via RS-232 console.

If the connected powered device fails to respond after a period of time, JetNet 4706 will perform a cold boot for the powered device by reconnecting its power digitally. Simply put, the unmanaged powered devices can be managed by utilizing JetNet 4706.
JetNet 4706 / 3706 series use IP-31 aluminum housing to carry out superior heat radiation, robust and light weight. It also provides an enhanced protection for the non-stop operation under hazardous operating temperature, -10~70°C and 10%~90 % humidity.

JetNet 4706 / 3706 series are simply the best choices to build up an intelligent, power over Ethernet management and cost-effective IP surveillance infrastructure.

High Power Forwarding System

The IEEE802.3af Power over Ethernet standard specifies 15.4w power budget for PD system. However, 15.4w is simply not enough for some applications. JetNet 3706 follows two PoE mechanisms, IEEE802.3af and High Power pre-standard IEEE802.3at for 30W power budget. To recognize the PD classification ID, a powerful micro-processor is installed in JetNet 3706 for power detection, classification, powering and disconnection processes. The JetNet 3706 / 4706 can power PD with different PD classification ID. For the IEEE802.3af standard PD, the JetNet 3706 / 4706 support maximum 61.4W power forwarding ability with DC 48V power.

A Non-Stop Transmission Network with PoE Function- RSR & Dual Homing II

JetNet 4706 has two 100Mbps Fiber ports allowing users to extend network infrastructure for uplink or to serve in a redundant Ethernet ring, Rapid Super Ring(RSR).When the network connection was lost, the RSR technology will choose an alternative route to transmit the data, in as low as 30 ms.To integrate with higher level switch, Jetnet4706 implements Dual Homing II which emerges Rapid Super Ring and RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) over one single redundant port.

Power Budget Control

JetNet 4706 also implements an excellent PoE power limit control mechanism, such as PoE port disable/enable, power limit mode selection for IEEE 802.3af standard, manual configuring power budget accordingly to each port's power consumption.

Weekly Scheduling PoE Power Control

Korenix fully understands the rising cost of energy, and JetNet 4706 provides a weekly scheduling PoE Power Control to conserve energy and extend the powered device life time. JetNet4706 implements the scheduling control for PoE similar to UPS, Uninterruptible Power Supply.It provides hour-by-hour power control on a weekly schedule; each port can be configured with different rules for different hours of the day and different days of the week.This feature significantly improves power usage and meets economic resource management requirements.

Built-in WatchDog Timer

In industrial networking application, the reliability is a must. JetNet 4706 has installed a separate CPU monitoring the network.If for any reason, the switch is not working properly, the built-in WatchDog Timer will perform a warm boot to restart the switch, saving time and efforts for network administrator.
