JetCon 1301
The JetCon 1301 media converter supports two types of data forwarding mode, store & forward switch mode and pure converter mode.
In the Switch mode, the converter transmit packet by store and forward method and the latency is depends on the packet length. The available packet length is from 64 to 1522 bytes.
Pure converter modeGuarantees the minimum latency of data forwarding: When set the device in "pure converter" mode, the JetCon 1301 forwards the signal to link partner directly without checking the CRC of packet frame. This is specially designed for devices operated in proprietary communication protocol.The JetCon 1301 can forward a packet frame less than 64 bytes. It operates with the minimum latency in this mode. The transmission flow does not wait until entire frame is ready, it forwards the received data immediately after the data being received. Both ports of JetCon are interconnected via internal MII signals, therefore the internal switch engine and data buffer are not used. Both TP port and fiber port of JetCon 1301 work at 100M full duplex in this mode. If TP port is linked at half duplex, the available link distance of UTP cable will be limited up to 60 meters to meet the requirement of CSMA/CD in IEEE802.3. The packet length is up to 1600 bytes. The configuration change of converter mode will be taken effect after power reset.
