Korenix is pleased to announce that its JetNet 4508 v2 series Industrial Copper and Fiber managed switches have successfully passed the EN50121-4 European railway standard requirements of emission and immunity for railway platforms and trackside deployment. The switches exceeded the basic conformity testing requirements imposed by the EN50121-4, in particular outstanding with a performance of up to 4KV surge protection for DC power port.
The new verification of conformity is a strong guarantee that the JetNet 4508 V2 series provide all the ruggedized hardware protection as well as intelligent user-friendly software functions to be successfully installed in railways, and therefore can be accepted across Europe. |

The EN50121-4 standard is related to signaling and telecommunication apparatus, which are intended to be installed in railway environments such as on the trackside, platforms. The standard specifies limits of emission and immunity and provides performance criteria for the communication devices which may interfere with other apparatus in the railway environment, or which may increase the total emission energy exceeding the limits defined in the standard, and as a result, causing electromagnetic interference.
Korenix provides two models in its JetNet 4508 V2 series Industrial Ethernet switches, the JetNet 4508 V2 designed with 8 Fast Ethernet RJ45 ports and JetNet 4508f V2 with 6 Fast Ethernet plus 2 Fiber ports for up to 30KM distance uplink connection. To provide system stability and reliability in harsh environments, the switches provide built-in watchdog timer, which helps to avoid system crash caused by environmental factors, such as intense electromagnetic interference, extreme temperature variations and / or wrong instruction looping.
In addition to the outstanding hardware design, the switches also adopt various network control and security features to ensure the network connection reliability and easy system maintenance. To optimize the industrial network environment, the switch supports Tag-based VLAN, IGMP Snooping, QoS, Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), and many others, allowing users to fully handle network traffic and ensure high performance data stream delivery.
To keep the communication running non-stop with no data failure, the JetNet 4508 V2 series, in addition to MSTP / RSTP legacy redundancy protocols, also support Korenix Multiple Super Ring, TrunkRing, MultiRing, Rapid Dual Homing, which allows users aggregating various rings in one Ethernet Switch, doubling ring path speed, performing ring path redundancy and providing uplink with backbone Ethernet Switch with RSTP protocol, all of these with a recovery time of just 5ms.
Combining the outstanding management features into the ruggedized design with IP31 shielded enclosure and -25~70°C (JetNet 4508 V2), -10~70°C (JetNet 4508f V2) and -40~75°C (JetNet 4508-w/4508f-w V2) wide operating temperature, JetNet 4508 V2 switches provide highly reliable and secure data communication under severe industrial environments of railway installations.
