VRRP router redundancy supported in JetBox and JetCard series
ensure highly reliable routing performance in extended network infrastructures!

Taipei, Taiwan, June 27th, 2011

JetBox and JetCard series support VRRP Router redundancy

Korenix provides the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol in its JetBox and JetCard series embedded platforms for ensuring reliable data routing in enhanced network infrastructures. The VRRP protocol is included in the Keepalived software package, which is designed to provide interface failover detection and handling.

Once the VRRP protocol is enabled, the Korenix JetBox or JetCard start operating as a Master and as a Backup, both with identical Virtual IP Addresses. To minimize service interruption and ensure system running smoothly without data loss, the VRRP provides a rapid transition from Master to Backup once the Master device fails.

The VRRP is supported in the following Korenix Embedded Computing models:

Korenix JetBox 9500/9400/5400 and JetCard 5400-w series are embedded Linux based platforms that combine computing, networking and routing functions together as a new generation embedded system. In addition to peripheral control functionality, the JetBox series provide Ethernet transmission management through LAN, WAN, PoE, DIO and Serial ports, making the wiring and setting of a front-end control box simple and easy.

For providing flexible system expansion, Korenix JetCard 5400-w series embedded Single Board Computers with a PCI 104 form factor are a perfect choice, which allow IPC providers design an extensible system with up to four PCI-104 cards for more networking connectivity, such as CANbus, serial, gigabit Ethernet, VGA…

With the complete layer3 routing functions, such as OSPF, IPv6 and RIP supported in JetBox and JetCard series, users can efficiently manage extended network groups in large network infrastructures. Additionally, they can also benefit from the VPN and DMVPN functionalities to expand networking capabilities and reduce system costs by establishing long-distance and dynamic secure overlay networks in vertical markets deployments,  such as green energy, railways and subways, industrial automation etc...
